• On October 17, 1872 (year 5 of the Meiji era)
  • Watanabe Daisuke the 1st, who was the daimyo's liaison in Edo for the Akita Satake domain,
  • chose Yonezawa-cho 3-chome (at present, Higashi Nihonbashi 2-chome) as the site for his restaurant serving "Aigamo" cuisine,
  • which enjoyed the ardent recommendation of kabuki actor Onoue Kikugoro the 5th
  • and has been unsurpassed throughout history.
  • For over 100 years, and still to this day,
  • the flavor has not changed and has become renowned among many writers and artists.
